We were pleased to offer the first Artesian Online Art Market in 2020. The online market presented an opportunity to enjoy fine art from more than 50 Southeastern First American artists from the comfort of your home. We are excited to announce the 2021 virtual art show, market and competition is open to First Americans from any federally recognized tribe. We look forward to sharing beautiful original works of art and connecting buyers and First American artists.
The first Artesian Arts Festival was May 26, 2014 and took place the last Saturday in May for six years. The Artesian Arts Festival rapidly grew from 40 artists the first year to more than 125 elite First American artists in 2019. To continue the momentum as one of the fastest growing First American Art Festivals in the United States, and exercise caution during the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival transitioned to an online market in 2020.
The festival is open to artists from all federally recognized tribes. Accepted artists are invited to enter the juried art competition and participate in the art market. The festival also offers a wide variety of tribal dance demonstrations, musical entertainment, artist talks, food vendors and children’s activities.
The Artesian Arts Festival is located on the beautiful Artesian Plaza in downtown Sulphur, Oklahoma, and nestled among the Artesian Hotel and Casino, the Artesian Gallery and Studios, the Chickasaw National Recreation Area and numerous boutiques and shops.
