Dustin Mater

Chickasaw artist Dustin Mater specializes in visual art. His grandmother, Caroline, was an original Chickasaw enrollee. She taught him to appreciate his heritage and find the beauty in his Chickasaw history. This fueled his passion for art and design. Dustin studied art and design at Santa Monica College and the Multimedia Institute of Hollywood. His creative work includes carvings, drawings, gorgets, paintings, shell art and sculptures.

Dustin’s work has been honored with numerous awards over the past 12 years, including first place awards in both the Southeastern Art Show and Market (SEASAM) and Artesian Arts Festival. Dustin’s artwork has been displayed in art shows, exhibitions and special collections across the United States, including Santa Fe Indian Market, Red Earth and the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian.
