This piece began as a hand drawn sketch that I digitally painted in Clip Studio Paint. It was then was made into a single giclée print on heavy watercolor paper. I wanted to use art nouveau touches with a Native American figure as I've never seen our heritage represented in the style. I represented my family's Chickasaw heritage with the background imagery and the drum to honor legendary storyteller Te Ata Fisher. The woman is representative of my Cherokee heritage. She is Ayvdaqualosgi or Thunderer, a storm spirit of the sky whose clan commands thunder and lightning. Taking human form, the spirit is dancing toward the storm of her own creation.
